Rain Riding, Lightning, Thunderstorms In Mexico

Riding in the northern part of Mexico as I bring back the DRZ to the states. Got caught in a huge storm that didnt look that bad till I got into it, got soaked while pulling over under a bridge to throw on my rain gear. Kept going and I knew it was bad when some of the locals pulled over to wait it out, but I kept going and made it through, come to find out that storm was HUGE on the radar map!! Maybe that wasn't such a good idea, Footage on the camera was garbage since if you have ridden through hard rainfall you pretty much know it looks like!

Thanks for watching and as always Stay Ridin!

Suzuki DRZ Motorcycle Fumigation Central America JOKE!

I think this is a big joke just to get people to pay more money at border crossings, just spraying your bike with a mixture of soapy water and maybe fragrance?? Who knows !! Its like an extra dollar or two at every country crossing down to South America. Im not sure why they just dont add the fee to the entrance fee and not spray your bike.......on the plus side.....them rims are shiny now!

Shooting at a Los Angeles County Bike Night - Crime scene video

Rolling out and through the shooting site, Police blocking it all off and keeping some bikes there to review etc.  I believe they were checking VIN and bike info, who knows. Lane splitting Legal In all the States?

What do you think? Comment below!

What lane splitting legally in California looks like POV style.

They just made it a good law where the talk of the town is bursting at the seams and now you cant just get pulled over at the officers discretion of it is "safe" or not the way you are doing it. Of course there are always people going faster or slower etc etc. Do you live in a state where you can't lane split? Have you started getting petitions going, signatures?

2016 R 1200 GS Adventure Demo Ride Laguna Seca Monterey O-Fest

So this weekend I had the pleasure of being in Monterey at Laguna Seca for the BMW O-fest and Demo rides of the 2016 BMW line up. I was really thinking about the awkwardness of being too short for the bike, but once I hit that start button those worries took off into the hillside. There are lots of things I touched base on in the video but click the link below to check out more:

*RARE* Million Dollar BMW R7 Prototype Motorcycle

The history behind this specific one, is that is was in the museum in a crate for about 50 years before people knew what it was or what it was doing in a crate!!! Talking a super rare barn style find!!

""The BMW R7 is truly a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that was introduced as a concept in 1934, but never produced. It did, however, inspire the R17 and R5 models. It was built during the height of the Art Deco movement, which is apparent by its very precise design that adheres to the standard mathematical basis of the Art Deco style, and is truly a pleasing piece.

After its conception, the R7 slipped away and was thought to be lost until it was rediscovered in 2005 and fully restored. It bears all black body panels with white outlines. Its wire wheels are painted a deep black to match the rest of the body. The body was like no other bike at the time, boasting smooth lines and fenders that partially wrapped around the wheels. Covering the engine are pieces of formed sheet metal to aid its aerodynamic qualities. Even the exposed cylinder heads are formed into a more aerodynamic dome shape.

The R7 boasts an 800 cc boxer engine that Leonhard Ischinger designed for BMW. It boasts a forged, 1-piece crankshaft for extra strength, and 1-piece cylinders and cylinder heads. Since the camshaft was under the crankshaft, the cylinders were positioned higher, leading to more effective valve positioning and even more ground clearance than the typical bike of the era. Coming off of the engine are two chrome fish-fin exhaust pipes.

This bike boasts a 4-speed manual transmission. Instead of the traditional foot shifter, the 1934 R7 boasts a car-style gear shifter to the right of the fuel filler cap.""

Riding the Dam over Rio de Brazo in Hornito , Panama

Halfway from David to Bocas del Toro lies  SUPER great road to ride in the wet or dry. Twisties, potholes, off road sections, mainly rain since its so high up in the humid areas of Panama, I had a blast! Got to finally see the bottom of the hill and there lies the Dam of Hornito, Rio Brazo in its glory just winding around the mountains like the slithers of a snake!  Beautiful scene and so calm and quiet......I was the only one out there just waking up the wildlife! Braaap!!

Panama Motorcycle Crossing on the new bridge

So I thought I had it all figured out all the Immigration / Aduana fees paid etc etc , then all of a sudden go figure one more!!  So had to get off the bike, leave it and go pay the fee before finally crossing the bridge!

Somotillo, Nicaragua

On the way down the trek I made it to this small town just

across the border of Honduras, crossing the border late at

night I realized and was told it may not be a good idea to ride

at night. Point and advice taken I stayed here. Locals were

friendly and the only thing I could find at the time was a hotel

late at night.

Arriving there I had no idea (as with anywhere) what to expect. So I took a stroll around town and asked around for a place to eat and the best cheapest hotel. They pointed me in a good direction and off I went. It seems this length of this town can be traveled in about maybe less than a couple minutes. Small and fun little town.

Crossing the border from Honduras around 7 or 8pm I found myself just talking to the truckers and seeing what is good around the area or how long it would take me to get to Leon which was my plan for the night, well that was a bad idea as I learned the truth of what could happen there if traveling by night. I stayed at the Hotel Fronteras for a night, skipped on a bucket shower this time, and threw on the fan to splash my face with hot air while I tried to sleep.

The best thing and first thing I always check is to make sure I have a safe place for my motorcycle to sleep before I do haha so it was brought inside and put behind a gate so it could be locked in and I could sleep at peace. Sleeping at night was easy once I knew my bike was safe. The next morning around 6am the semis started rolling in and that was a great alarm clock. I quickly got up and dressed and got ready to head out. I didnt have time or a plan to arrive anywhere so was thinking about breakfast and seeing what I could afford, when the owner offered me some fresh watermelon. Needless to say I had my fill and quickly hit the road to make my way to Leon!!

Somoto Nicaragua Canyon Swim Short Version ( POV )

While traveling in Nicaragua I had the opportunity to get to Somoto Canyon!! Such a pleasure being able to explore the canyon alone and find my own route through everything, when there is no where to go, you find a way if not swim!!

Check out the video below!

I would say FTP but they love wheelies!!

In the land between Mexico and South America lies Central America, where wheelies are free to be popped and encouraged by most military that patrol the area and keep the streets safe!

(POV) Somoto Canyon Caves and River Hike Nicaragua

Do you feel like hiking today but don't want to get off the couch? Well here is your chance! Come along with me as I explore the Canyons, caves and river of Somoto Canyon in Nicaragua. On this solo mission you will see what only a small section of this canyon is all about!  There are plenty of spots to swim in, jump from, caves to camp in and start fires in. Your imagination is your best friend!!!

The Somoto Canyon was relatively unexplored until a group of scientists from the Czech Republic and Nicaragua (INETER) discovered the canyon in 2004. The canyon is believed to have formed 5 to 13 million years ago during the Miocene period. After its discovery in 2004, the Somoto Canyon has been developing into a tourist attraction, further helping the growth of tourism in Nicaragua. However, this has also had a negative effect with incidents such as graffiti being written on the walls of the Canyon since its discovery.

Lost on a dirt road in Central America!

Going the right way sometimes means getting lost.

In this case traveling through some of the parts of Honduras on the way to Copan I was getting prett lost and sidetracked most of the time. I was just following random directions from a man in town who said to keep going straight, the road will start getting bad but keep going straight. Well turns out I went too far.  I ended up in an area with a great view right before sunset. Sometimes the route you take turns out to be some of the best and freshest through the mountain passes. I didnt realize how green or full of mountains Honduras really was, since the last time I crossed through was a rush job through the southernmost area of the country. It only took me 4 hours to cross the country where I passed through. This time around there was days to be had in the amazing country.  I was told to stay away from the major cities since there is where most of the violence and assaults were. I took that into consideration and made my way to the capital Tegucigalpa and headed north towards San Pedro Sula. Where there is much gang violence to this day and random killings  between the two rival gangs. It seemed I was going through a lot of towns where the military presence greatly outnumbered the local Police. There were areas I passed through where the military had orders to shoot on site any gang member.

I got a quick rundown from the locals on what to expect throughout the country as well as not to be out late at night. Me having tattoos and not being from there increased my chance of running into trouble. It seems that El Salvador is on the same mission to flush out all the gang members so they are fleeing from there to the surrounding countries like Honduras and Guatemala. With some of the borders being free passage and not really checking anything it seemed easy to get into the country to cause some mayhem.

What to do on a private beach!

As you come out of the small windy tight secret entrance you arrive at a final destination........So there you have it..... your own private beach! You have it all to yourself. No huge crowds, no crowded sandy areas. Just freedom! You have all the time to explore and enjoy all of this for your own. Well for me, it involved taking full advantage with a nice swim and a couple of wave jumps. No surfboard so I ran to jump right into the water!!  I almost forgot to take my sandals off as I made it to the edge of the bright blue sea! I quickly flicked them off and got ready for a new experience!

Stepping in the water was a shock as it always is.....my feet anticipate the cold depths of the ocean but are met with a warm caress and pleasurable temperatures!  The ocean with its calm and wild nature is something that always soothes my soul and relaxes me down to my core. There are a lot of things I enjoy in life and being in such a spectacular part of the world is one of them. Feelings I cant describe as I am more than waist deep and look back at the shore....my bike waving HI along the shoreline. I wave back and continue my exploration of blissful sensations. After a couple wave sessions I start to think that I am not wearing any sunscreen at all.....which starts to make me think about the last time I got sunburnt.....which then makes me think of the discomfort. As I unwillingly step out of the ocean I look along the beach and decide its time to ride!!

There is nothing more visually delicious than being on a beach surrounded by all of nature and being able to do whatever you want. I strapped a stick and camera to my bike and took off to just cruise around the beach and enjoy riding on one of the many beaches in Central America.  Going back and forth, over the water crossings and on the sand flats I started to have more and fun and throw a little more and more wrist on it.Definitely had a great time out there with my girl, and we will be back one day for sure. Of course I gave her a good cleaning after, but it was all in good fun and definitely enjoyed another chance at riding on a private beach!!!!

My advice, link up with a local to show you the good spots!  This beach was south of Dominical, Costa Rica.

Post up in the comments what YOU would do on a private beach!

Territorio de Zaguates - Costa Rica

Official Facebook Page , click here

Their Gofund me - Every little bit helps

If you are in Costa Rica, this is a place to visit without a doubt!!! A stones throw away from Heredia and San Jose!

With a day starting out riding up a curvy and newly paved road I was already enjoying the trip! Slowly creeping up mountainsides and small narrow bridge crossings, blind turns and all around great scenery I started to realize this is gonna be a better day than I could have imagined!
Pulling up to the front gate, pausing, then zooming past a great dirt and gravel road I was really starting to enjoy the atmosphere before me. I reached the top of the hill and I had to stop and just let the sensation of love set in!!! You dont need an offroad bike to get up there, BUT it does make it a lot more fun!
There were so many dogs just running freely and playing with everyone, having the time of their life! No judgement of their background, what breed, where they came from, or what they looked like. Over 700 stray dogs call this place home.....for me it seemed like heaven as a dog! Only took me a couple seconds to park my motorcycle and run to the hundreds of dogs to make some new 4 legged friends. I made a couple really close buddies that followed me around because I pet them in the right spot. I had a great conversation with Natalie and one of the owners Lya. Plenty of love to see from everyone that worked there and volunteered their time, it is not easy trying to leave there with clean clothes and why would you!!! There are hundreds of dogs to play with and run around with!! They are just looking for some love and yes you can adopt any of them if you like and its highly recommended. Me being on a motorcycle not sure how I would swing that, as well as seeing how I dont have a home to go back to, makes it hard to take that jump and be responsible for a traveling companion as much as I would want one! Nevertheless there is always a smiling doggy breath face nudging itself under your palm, or in the gap between your arm and rib cage, ready for a petting frenzy!! The place holds something special for me and it was great to see the mix and hear stories of where everyone came from! Great names, odd names, weird names, the staff has named every single one of these beings with a name to fit their character and or look! I think my favorite was Whiskers aka Vigotes. An older dog who was brought into the Territory and soon after taught hundreds of dogs how to dig holes to sit in while relaxing. I was told by Lya that before he showed up there weren't any holes, but when he came, it was short after there are holes everywhere haha Classic!

There were good back woods areas for the dogs to run around and chase each other, Bathing stations worked by volunteers and new comers alike. I was held back in awe to how clean the place was with over 700 dogs running around!!! Their poop was cleaned up, walkways and play areas free of debris giving the little furry friends a great place to just be themselves and enjoy the new life! They are always in need of help with funds. There is always a need for food, basic cleaning supplies, vaccinations, as well as vet help for sick or hurt dogs. They are currently trying to upgrade some of the facilities as well as complete 2 bathrooms for their visitors and staff, currently there is only one bathroom and its located in the caretakers home and it doesn't even have a door.

Camping in Costa Rica

How some of the best days are spent!
I really didn't plan for this trip as I should have, and literally brought the bare minimum. thanks to great friends I can and have been enjoying the freedom of camping and just watching the waves on my hammock, as well as not having to rush to hotels or hostels.  There are a lot of great things in the world and oene of them being the fact that you can wake up , unzip your tent and BAMM there is the ocean for a quick morning dip and a fresh start for the day!. Camping has always been one of my favorite things to do and It was a shame I didnt get to do much of it on the way through Mexico and a couple other countries because of lack of gear. But now its on! and has been on!!! There are so many apps now that give you pointers to great campsites and places to go and things to do etc, its never ending!

Wiwili Rio Coco Jinotega Dirt Road Supermoto fun

Here I just have some fun on my supermoto through the main roads and backroads! Sorry about the cursing Im getting a lot better at NOT doing it haha

My route for this day started in Palacaguina and went north east towards Wiwili where I then headed back south after a river crossing.

Took me about 7 hours of all kinds of mixed dirt road riding and was one of the best days on my journey so far and super enjoyable!

Wiwili - Nicaraguan sources say it was founded in the 1920s. Wiwili de Nueva Segovia is on the west bank of the Rio Coco; Wiwili de Jinotega is on the eastern bank. Wiwili borders the Bosawas National Natural Resource Reserve, the largest protected area in Central America.

Riding in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. Had some of the most amazing times, wonderous views, and great riding to the city through the mountain steep downhill curves.
